Baseball/Softball Physics

Physics is all around us. I played a lot of softball growing up and found that learning physics really helped my game (it improved my batting mechanics a lot). Here are some good links to sites that talk about the physics of baseball and softball.

(video from Allen Nathan Physics of Baseball)
Allen Nathan Physics of Baseball : This is a more upper-level discussion of the physics of the way that baseballs travel through air. It also has some really cool videos.

Softball Science : This site talks about how bats are tested and what the ASA approved stamp means.

Physics and Acoustics of Baseball and Softball Bats : This was one of my favorite sites growing up. It has really good animations of what is actually happening when your bat hits a ball and is very clear.
